I'd like to share something with you all.

Depression is one of the most deadly mental illnesses a person can contract. Every year in the United States, more than 45,000 people commit suicide. Most of them were seriously depressed. I write about these types of things on my blog, Blunt Therapy. This week, I published my own personal account on Medium of a 12-year long struggle with depression that almost killed me. I'd like to share it with you. Here it is:

What Happens When Your Brain Tries To Kill You: A Story About Major Depression

  • Ok, so I've had anxiety, depression and ADD since I was a kid, and was diagnosed around 4 years ago with narcolepsy (without cataplexy). I've had some experiences since I was a teenager that have always made me wonder. I used to always hear someone whispering my name...so clearly, I'd turn and look to see who was there. I used to (and still do) experience the feeling that someone is coming up behind me, and when I turn around, no one is there. I also sometimes think I see something out of the corner of my eye, but it's nothing. I've had a few other strange and unexplainable experiences as well. These things have occurred even when my symptoms were fairly mild or under control. I've always wondered if these were related to my anxiety/depression, or if I'm just crazier than I thought. Lol. I've always wondered, but never really gotten an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
